The rich are different, upon that we can all agree. However, having just returned from their land, I bring this additional information: they are also cleaner and smell of lavender.
We spent this weekend once again in Canmore, in a toney chalet that did not belong to us, a chalet that features a swimming pool bathtub that burbles and froths at either a steady pace or according to a gentle sine wave. I tried both and prefer the gentle sine wave, which replicates meltdown and calm down, meltdown and calm down, endlessly over 20 minutes-- by the time you're done, you've melted down so many times that it no longer seems so exciting.
Now, what needs to happen next is this: we all pool our pocket change and buy the nation of Iraq a few dozen burbling tubs and a lavender field. I think we might be surprised by how quickly they find peace.
