Tea Kettle (see: Ass Over)

As I lay there on the icy driveway looking up at the blue sky, and as I wiggled my arms and legs to determine if I were paralyzed in whole or in part, and as I tried to convince Lief that I hadn't done a trick to amuse him and that mommy really wanted him to get the chocolate out of mommy's coat pocket and put it in mommy's mouth, and as I dreamt wistfully of the complete lack of ice (other than in my drink) that characterized my 10 years in Los Angeles, I also pondered the etymology of "pratfall," as I imagine many many other people would do in such circumstances:

pratfall: 1939, from prat "buttocks" (1567), originally criminals' slang, of unknown origin.

Prat in British slang sense of "dolt, fool" is recorded from 1968.

It's actually, you know, a bit criminal how sore my prat is. Are?
